Which Samsung ML-4050 driver should I choose?

A Basic driver installs printing for this printer and nothing more. The ML-4050N Series Print Driver is 6.9 MB, and the PCL5 driver is 0.1 MB but needs a manual install. Universal Print Drivers are generic and suit IT-managed setups; they run 38.5 MB for Windows 11 and 24.4 MB for PostScript. Utilities add extras. Set IP (1.5 MB) assigns a network address by MAC address, and Easy Printer Manager (28.7 MB) handles settings and status.

Samsung lists the ML-4050N Series drivers for Windows 7 only. Windows 10 users can pick the PostScript Universal Print Driver, and Windows 11 users the main Universal Print Driver. Direct Printing Utility (2.0 MB) sends PDF files straight to the machine without opening them first.

How to install the Samsung ML-4050 driver

Windows does not find the printer after installation

Check that the cable is firmly seated and the printer is on. Restart both the printer and the PC. On a network, Samsung Set IP can assign an address using the printer's MAC address.

Printed pages look faint, streaked or uneven

Check the printer's supplies first, since low or worn consumables cause most quality problems. Print the same document from another program to rule out the file. Reinstall the driver if only one program is affected.

Version 2.00.01.36 fixed a Windows 10 RS4 compatibility issue. Download that version (28.7 MB) from this page, then install it over the older one and restart the PC.
