Which Samsung SCX-3405 driver should I choose?

HP groups the downloads into three categories. Basic drivers are the core files: the print driver (24.9 MB), the scan driver (23.3 MB) and a No Installer print driver (20.6 MB) that needs manual installation. Utilities add extras, such as Easy Wireless Setup (4.2 MB) and Set IP (1.5 MB). Firmware files for the SCX-3405FW and SCX-3405W (Windows 7 only) come with a release note. HP lists no fixes for them, so skip firmware unless you have a problem it addresses.

Set IP assigns a network IP address using the printer's MAC address. Easy Wireless Setup configures the printer's wireless network settings. HP also offers firmware files named SCX-3405FW and SCX-3405W, so check the suffix on your model before choosing one.

How to install the Samsung SCX-3405 driver

Windows cannot find the printer on the network

Confirm the printer and PC share the same network. Then run Samsung Set IP (1.5 MB) to assign an IP address using the printer's MAC address. Restart the printer afterward.

Prints look faint, streaky or blank

Check the toner supply first. Remove the cartridge, gently reseat it, then print a test page. Replace the cartridge if the output stays poor.

Utility fails to work properly on Windows 10

Install Samsung Easy Printer Manager version 2.00.01.36. HP lists it as fixing a Windows 10 RS4 compatibility issue. Samsung Network PC fax Utility 2.02.35 carries the same fix.

The Samsung SCX-3400 Series Print Driver supports Windows 10 (64-bit and 32-bit) and Windows 7 (64-bit and 32-bit). HP does not list Windows 11 for the print driver.

How large is the recommended driver?

The Samsung SCX-3400 Series Print Driver is 24.9 MB, version 3.13.12.02.38, dated Jul 17, 2019. The No Installer version is smaller at 20.6 MB.

Do any downloads support Windows 11?

What does the firmware fix?
