Which Samsung ML-5512 driver should I choose?
The Basic driver installs only the XPS driver, so it suits most people who just want to print. The Universal Print Driver (38.5 MB) is a generic option for IT-managed setups. Utilities add extras: Easy Printer Manager (28.7 MB) combines settings and status monitoring, and Set IP (1.5 MB) sets a network IP by MAC address. Firmware (24.9 MB) comes with a release note. Skip the update unless that note describes a problem you have.
The XPS driver covers the ML-551x and 651x series, and it lists Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit. The firmware file covers the ML-5510, 5512, 6510 and 6512. Set IP identifies a network printer by its MAC address.

Windows does not find the printer or jobs never print
Confirm the printer is on and its cable or network link is firm. Restart both the printer and the PC. Then rerun the driver installer. On a network, Set IP can assign an address by MAC.
Pages come out faint, streaked or smeared
Check the supplies first and replace any that are used up. Print a test page afterward. If marks remain, power the printer off and on, then try again.
Easy Printer Manager misbehaves on Windows 10
Install Samsung Easy Printer Manager version 2.00.01.36. HP lists it as fixing a Windows 10 RS4 compatibility issue. Download it from this page and run the installer.

Should I update the firmware?
Firmware version 2.00.60.52 is 24.9 MB and covers the ML-5510, 5512, 6510 and 6512. HP recommends reading the release note first. Update only if it addresses your problem.
What does Samsung Set IP do?
Set IP sets a network IP address using the printer's MAC address, which is its hardware serial number. The download is 1.5 MB and lists Windows 11, 10 and 7.
