Which HP LaserJet Pro M1136 Multifunction series driver should I choose?
Full software and drivers is the complete package, matching the in-box CD, at 240.8 MB. Basic driver, at 10.7 MB, updates only the print driver and lists Win 7 64-bit. Utility downloads, like the 5.2 MB XPS driver update, cover narrower jobs. The Setup app is the 1.1 MB Smart Install Control Utility. HP lists no fixes for the 5.8 MB firmware utility, so skip it.
Duplex printing is manual, with driver support provided. The input tray holds 150 sheets and the output bin holds 100 sheets. This model has no wireless, network port or memory card slot, so plan on a USB connection.
How to install the HP LaserJet Pro M1136 Multifunction series driver
- Leave the USB cable unplugged until the installer prompts you.
- Close any programs running, and confirm about 700 MB of free disk space.
- Click the Download Only button and save the 240.8 MB file to your hard disk.
- Double-click the downloaded file to extract the driver files into a folder named like the printer model.
- Follow the on-screen instructions, and connect the USB cable when asked.

Windows does not detect the printer over USB
Unplug the cable and plug it into another USB port on the computer. Try a different cable if you have one. Restart the printer, then run the installer again.
Printed pages look faint or streaky
Remove the toner cartridge and rock it gently side to side to spread the toner. Reinsert it firmly. Replace the cartridge if pages stay faint.
The installer stops or fails to finish
Free up about 700 MB of disk space. Close other programs, then run the downloaded file again. Keep the USB cable unplugged until the installer asks for it.

HP lists Win 11, Win 10 64-bit and Win 7 64-bit for HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver. The version is 20180815_1, dated Jul 22, 2021.
Can this printer print wirelessly?
No. HP lists wireless capability, HP ePrint and mobile printing as unsupported. The only standard connection is a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port.
How large is the full driver download?
The file is 240.8 MB. HP also says you need about 700 MB of free hard disk space to use the download.
Does it print on both sides automatically?
No. Duplex printing is manual, and HP provides driver support for it. You flip the pages yourself.
