How to install the Canon PIXMA G1020 driver
Canon’s own steps for the full driver package:
- Download the file. For the location where the file is saved, check the computer settings.
- Double-click the downloaded EXE file to decompress it, then installation will start automatically.

Canon PIXMA G1020 driver troubleshooting
Windows does not detect the printer during setup
Check that the USB cable is firmly seated and the printer is powered on. Try a different USB port on the PC, not a hub. Then run the installer again and connect the cable when it asks.
The installer stops or fails partway through
Close other programs and run the installer as administrator. Pause any antivirus that blocks it. If it still stops, remove the partial install in Windows settings, restart the PC, and run the installer again.
I cannot find a scanner in Windows or on my Mac
The G1020 is a print-only model, so it has no scanner and needs no scan driver. If the printer itself is missing on a Mac, Canon lists no macOS driver here. Check Canon's support site.
