How to install the Canon PIXMA G1010 driver
Canon’s own steps for the full driver package:
- Download the file. For the location where the file is saved, check the computer settings.
- Double-click the downloaded .exe file. It will be decompressed and the Setup screen will be displayed. Follow the instructions to install the software and perform the necessary settings.

Canon PIXMA G1010 driver troubleshooting
Windows does not detect the G1010 over USB
Switch the printer on and plug the USB cable straight into the PC, not a hub. Try another port. Then run the installer again. If Windows still shows an unknown device, remove it in Device Manager and reconnect.
The installer stops partway through
Close other programs and turn off any running antivirus for a few minutes. Disconnect the USB cable if the installer has not asked for it. Restart the PC, then run the installer again as administrator.
No scanner shows up after installation
The G1010 only prints. It has no scanner or copier, so no scan software installs for it. If your PC lists a scanner, it belongs to another device. Check the model name on the front of your printer.

Which file should I download first?
For most users, pick G1010 Printer Driver Ver.1.03 (31.83 MB, 08 Jan 2025). It gives full printing functionality. The Full Driver & Software Package Ver.1.4 (20.03 MB) is an online installer that also handles initial setup.
Which Windows versions do the drivers cover?
Both drivers cover Windows 11, 10, 8.1 and 7. Canon lists 32-bit and x64 editions of Windows 10, 8.1 and 7. Windows Server is not listed for the drivers, only for the security patch.
Is there a macOS driver?
Canon lists no macOS file for the G1010 in this data. Every driver here is for Windows. Do not install these files on a Mac. Check Canon's own support page for current macOS options.
What is the Windows security patch?
Ver.1.0.2 fixes a folder vulnerability in printer drivers installed on a PC. Without it, other users can reach and replace that folder. The Dec 2024 version covers Windows 11, 10, 8.1 and Server 2012 R2 to 2025. It is 42.41 KB.
