How We Check Printer Drivers

Every driver page on DriverPrinter follows the same process. This page explains it step by step, so you know where each file and each number comes from.

1. We start from the manufacturer’s official list

For each printer we read the manufacturer’s own download list for that exact model. For HP, that is HP’s official driver download service. We check the current versions of Windows, macOS and Linux: Windows 11, Windows 10 (64-bit), Windows 7 (64-bit), macOS 26, macOS 15, macOS 13 and Linux.

We only list files the manufacturer offers for that model. A driver made for a sister model does not appear on the page unless the manufacturer lists it there too.

2. We record the details of every file

For each file we save the title, version, release date, size, file name and the manufacturer’s software ID. We also save the MD5 checksum the manufacturer publishes, plus links to release notes when they exist. You can find all of this under “Details” on each download.

3. We pick the file most people need

Printer makers often offer ten or more files for one printer. We mark one as “recommended” for Windows and one for Mac. Our order is simple: full software and drivers first, then the basic driver, then the maker’s setup app. Universal print drivers and firmware are listed too, with a note on when to use them.

4. Downloads come straight from the manufacturer

We do not host driver files. Each download button sends you to the manufacturer’s own server, such as ftp.hp.com for HP. We never repackage files or add installers, toolbars or other software. You can check a file yourself by comparing its MD5 checksum with the one on our page.

5. Specifications come from the manufacturer

Print speed, paper capacity, cartridges and other specifications are taken from the manufacturer’s official product specifications. We leave out old lines that no longer match the current drivers.

6. A person reviews every page

File details are taken from the manufacturer’s official download list. Page text is reviewed by Günay V. before publishing. Every number in the text, such as a file size or a version, is also checked against the manufacturer’s data.

7. We keep pages up to date

We re-check pages against the manufacturer’s list and update them when new drivers appear. The “checked” date at the top of each page shows the last time we compared it with the official list. We only change that date after a real re-check.
